The Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority is a partner in our local Rivanna River monitoring program, StreamWatch. StreamWatch
monitors and assesses Rivanna basin streams and rivers to help the community maintain and restore healthy waterways. Other partners include
Albermarle County, the Nature Conservancy, the Rivanna Conservation Society, the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission, and the
Thomas Jefferson Soil & Water Conservation District. We highly encourage you to become a volunteer - it's fun! Find out more at
http://www.streamwatch.org/.
Learn more about local watersheds and how you can help protect water quality through the Rivanna Regional Stormwater Education Partnership
Website: www.rivanna-stormwater.org.
The partnership is a collaborative effort between the City of Charlottesville, Albemarle County, the University of Virginia, the Virginia
Department of Transportation, and the Rivanna Water & Sewer Authority. Each of these agencies holds a permit from the Virginia Department
of Environmental Quality to manage its stormwater. Stormwater is the water that runs off roads, parking lots, yards, and rooftops during
and after a rain storm. Stormwater, when not properly managed, can cause flooding, pollution to streams, and property damage.
