Megan O’Donnell Shumate joined Rivanna Water & Sewer Authority and the Rivanna Solid Waste Authority as the Human Resources Manager in July 2026. Megan partners with leadership and employees to foster employee engagement, ensure compliance with employment laws, and supports Rivanna’s strategic goals.

Megan brings more than a decade of experience in human resources and talent acquisition, along with a passion for building strong teams and supporting employees throughout their careers. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.

Away from work, Megan enjoys traveling, attending concerts, baking, and spending time outdoors with her family and their dog.
