Austin started his career with the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority as an intern in 2017.  Upon graduation from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in 2018,  Austin moved into the Engineering Department as a Civil Engineer, before his promotion to Senior Civil Engineer in 2022, and his promotion to Engineering Manager in 2026.  He is a registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Outside of work, Austin enjoys spending time with his wife and son outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and camping.   Austin is also a supporter of JMU Athletics and is a fan of the Washington Nationals.
