Ms. Houchens joined Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority in 2016 as the Water Resource Intern. Following the internship, Bethany was hired into the newly created role of the Water Quality Specialist position. During this time, she had the opportunity to help solidify RWSA’s reservoir monitoring into a permanent sampling program. Bethany was also heavily involved in the restructuring and revamping of the potable water distribution sampling program. She was promoted to the Water Resources Coordinator position in 2024, providing guidance in water supply management, source water protection, and watershed management.
Away from work, Bethany enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, cooking, and reading. During the summer she can be found on the river or spending time in the garden.
