RWSA completed construction of the new Ragged Mountain Dam in 2014 to replace two aging dams at the same location. RWSA’s Beaver Creek Dam requires spillway upgrades to meet Virginia Dam Safety Regulations. The project is currently in the planning phase with construction to begin in 2024. Following the severe snow storm, Albemarle County and the City of Charlottesville are sponsoring a waiver of fees for residents to dispose of storm-related vegetative debris, such as tree limbs, at the Ivy Material Utilization Center (Ivy MUC). The waiver will be in effect from Thursday, January 6 through Monday, January 24. Vegetative debris collected will be ground into mulch and available for purchase at Ivy MUC.
